Senior Project Manager - Civil Engineering
Minimum Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Five to Ten years’ progressively responsible experience in design, estimating, specification preparation, contract preparation, related phases of engineering, and inspection of construction projects, including one to two years’ supervisory experience.
Required License(s):
- Registration as a Civil Engineer in the State of Nebraska and/or NCEES
- Must possess and maintain a current, valid Nebraska driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
Position Description:
Senior Project Manager – Civil Engineering (Lincoln, NE): We are seeking an ambitious leader and accomplished professional with roots in Nebraska and established contacts in the Omaha – Lincoln area. Our focus for this position is on private sector and municipal engineering. This is a highly visible and strategic position for an ambitious motivated results-driven individual. A successful performer in this role can look forward to fast career growth and advancement with EDC. Your qualifications should include a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, approximately 10 years or more experience, and a Nebraska PE License and/or NCEES License. Previous experience managing private sector and municipal projects and project teams is required. Current knowledge of state and local permitting is desired; and strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills are required to succeed in this role.
Essential responsibilities include:
- Manage your team, budget and schedules to successfully deliver your projects, and to maintain lasting relationships with your clients
- Help recruit, manage, and mentor junior staff
- Support and extend our current client base
- Collaborate on the design and planning of project
- Drive the processes with applications, permits and engineering reports
- Stay sharp by performing as Project Manager and/or Project Engineer when necessary
Expertise in any of the following areas is needed: planning, civil design and construction administration of municipal projects, residential and commercial mixed-use projects, streets and local roads, and water and sewer systems.
- Prepares reports, calculations, design plans, specifications, schedules, cost estimates and other materials related to the planning, design and construction phases of engineering projects and refers them to their supervisor for final approval
- Prepares and refers to the designee, contract documents and agreements for the planning, design and construction phases of engineering projects with professional engineering consultants, contractors, utilities and governmental agencies
- Confers with other departments and agencies relative to engineering projects and work programs to ensure proper coordination of all related activities and responsibilities
- Makes field trips and inspections to resolve serious differences of opinion between engineers and contractors’ representatives as they relate to design matters
- Conducts and attends conferences and meetings in connection with planning and design of improvement and construction projects
- Ability to use computers including proficiency with spreadsheets
- Prepares and supervises the preparation of a variety of engineering calculations, data and reports in connection with planning, development, and construction of projects
- Makes oral presentations

- Originate, prepare and check: calculations, designs, details, cost estimates, plans, specifications and contract documents
- Meet and consult with professional engineering personnel and public, private and community officials on engineering problems
- Plan and direct the work of others, judge work quality and performance
- Prepare technical correspondence and complete comprehensive reports
- Address audiences effectively
